Merry Christmas - Final blog for 2021

Morena Room 15 whānau, Thank you for supporting your children to have such a positive final week of the school year. They were amazing during the duathlon on Monday, despite it raining and not being the best conditions. Our prizegiving went really well, Click here if you would like to watch it. Please excuse the error I made, the last 2 awards I gave out were for academic excellence, not diligence. It was extremely difficult to choose the recipients of the awards as all the kids had a terrific year and I am proud of every single one of them.  Mr McMillan has filled his prize cupboard up for the 2022 reading logs. Your child will be given a hard copy today, but I will also attach a digital copy below.  Once again, thank you for a fantastic year. I know your children will all be amazing seniors.  Nga mihi,  Sophie Bowie.

Welcome to Week 7 Term 4

Good morning on this beautiful summer day.  It is hard to think that there are only three more weeks left of the school year.  Let's make these the three best ones we've had, by being organised, being kind and having a big dollop of patience. 𝅵؜𝅴 Kahikatea is looking forward to our Big Day In on Monday 6 December.  Unfortunately with Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to join us.  Please keep a lookout for a notice which will be sent home this week outlining all the details. Looking back at what was going on this time last year and it was jam packed with lots of activity - preparing for the curtain going up for Peter Pan, Ahurei, student Celebration Day at school, Christmas Parade, students competed in inter-school athletics. Unfortunately many activities have had to be cancelled this year due to COVID and many more will also need to be cancelled. Presently we are looking at how our end of year prizegiving and Mass is going to look. Plans will need to fit acc

Cardboard box for habitat creation

Kia ora whānau,  Tomorrow we will be making habitats for our clay taniwha's. I have asked students to bring a small cardboard box tomorrow, approximately the size of a shoebox. If you have any spare boxes, we will happily take them off your hands, as some students may forget or not have any at home. Students are also able to bring other things for their habitats, e.g. plants, fabric, plastic animals etc.  Thank you,  Sophie Bowie

Welcome to Week 6 Term 4

Bonjour parents and whānau and welcome to Week 6! I hope families are enjoying the early summer weather we are getting and making the most of it. There are less than four weeks of learning left until the end of the school year. St Mary's will be finishing at midday on Thursday 16th December. Last week we had an awesome time swimming and learning about the Taniwha of Kuirau Park. Check out the taniwha clay sculptures the children made. Just a friendly reminder that all students need to bring their  hats  to school, we know how harsh our New Zealand sun is. Also, please continue checking that your child is bringing their  device to school fully charged . We will be continuing with our learning programme right up to the end of the year. Assessments are now mostly finished and data is being analysed as teachers finalise the end of year report writing. Kahikatea Middle School will be having a Big Day In on Tuesday, December 6th to celebrate our great year of learning. There will be a ra
