Welcome to Week 9

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a wonderful weekend. 

Last week involved so many exciting events, which our students thoroughly enjoyed. Our swimming sports last Monday was a huge success. It was so great to hear about everyone getting involved and having fun. Thank you to our parent helpers for your support, we couldn't do events like this without you. Also, thank you for encouraging your children to participate in Rice Day. It promoted thoughtful discussion and provided a meaningful opportunity for students to walk in somebody else's shoes for a day. 

Well done to those involved with Touch finals and the Pasifika Group performance over the weekend. I look forward to hearing how these events went. If your child was involved, please email any photos for me to share with the rest of the class.

No swimming this week 

Tuesday - Palm Sunday Liturgy at 12:15 in the Church. 

Thursday - Washing of the Feet Liturgy at 12:15 in the hall. 
             - Library 

Friday - Good Friday (No School). 

Holy Week
The Holy Week marks the events leading up to Jesus' death and his resurrection. It starts with Palm Sunday which commemorates when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.

Friendly Reminders:

- Chromebooks need to come to school charged. As we are a BYOD school, many of our learning activities now require devices. Headphones are essential, please. - Each child needs a school hat. They can be purchased from the uniform shop for $13.
- Please LABEL your children's clothing, we have quite a few issues with shorts/dresses ending up on the wrong body.
- If you need headphones still, Kmart, The Warehouse, or school have them ranging in price from $8
-Please collect bread tags and yummy stickers, if you need a chart please have your child come see Mrs. Dinniss

Kia ora whānau,  Congratulations on making it to the final week of what has been a fun and turbulent school year. Thank you all for the time, dedication and effort you have put into your children's learning, particularly during the lockdown period.  We have been doing all sorts of crafts, technology projects, science and physical activities during our morning rotations, which the kids have thoroughly enjoyed. Check out our budding beekeepers below!  We sent school reports home on Friday which included a slip with the name of your child's teacher for 2022. All students will be meeting their new teacher and classmates on Monday.  Coming up this week:  Monday - Duathlon  All children will need to bring their togs, towel, hat and sneakers. Welcome to Week 7 Term 4

Good morning on this beautiful summer day.  It is hard to think that there are only three more weeks left of the school year.  Let's make these the three best ones we've had, by being organised, being kind and having a big dollop of patience. 𝅵؜𝅴 Kahikatea is looking forward to our Big Day In on Monday 6 December.  Unfortunately with Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to join us.  Please keep a lookout for a notice which will be sent home this week outlining all the details. Looking back at what was going on this time last year and it was jam packed with lots of activity - preparing for the curtain going up for Peter Pan, Ahurei, student Celebration Day at school, Christmas Parade, students competed in inter-school athletics. Unfortunately many activities have had to be cancelled this year due to COVID and many more will also need to be cancelled. Welcome Ākonga and Whānau

  Hello! My name is Sophie, also known as Miss Bowie. I am very excited to be embarking on a new adventure at St Marys this year, after teaching for 4 years at Kawaha-Point School. My passions include playing netball, exploring new places, spending time with my friends and whānau, eating lots of delicious food, and of course, teaching. I am currently training for a half-marathon, which I will be running with Miss Lovegrove (If I can keep up with her long legs!). Throughout my early teaching years, I have had many “wow moments” with my students, which are memories I will treasure forever. I cannot wait to create more precious memories this year in rooms 14 and 15.  Kia Ora Tatou! I’m Tai, but in the class setting I am known as Mrs YTT, mama, and yes, sometimes nana.
