Welcome to Week 7 Term 2

Time flies when you're having fun they say!  It's hard to believe it's already week 7 and we only have four weeks left of this term. Last week we had a great Mass with lovely readings, prayers, and beautiful singing from our Kahikatea team. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support. Well done too to the Ripper rugby teams who went to the tournament and played well.  Good luck to those participating in a Chess Tournament on Monday in Tauranga and Tuesday in Rotorua, we know you will enjoy the experience.


What's Happening this Week:

Tuesday
- Library 
- Talent show auditions in Room 5. 

Wednesday
- Gymnastics in Hall - 12:45pm, lunchtime. 
- Kapa Haka

Friday
- Pasifika, 11am   
- Talent show finals 11:30.     
- Choir - 12pm
- Assembly. 

Friendly Reminders:
Chromebooks need to come to school charged. As we are a BYOD school, many of our learning activities now require devices. Headphones are essential, please. If your child's Chromebook is not working, we recommend contacting Paul (see contact details below).
Please LABEL your children's clothing, we have quite a few issues with jerseys/fleeces ending up on the wrong body.
Please check with your child that their headphones are working. We still have some children without, it was on the stationery list for this year and very important to have at school. They can be purchased reasonably priced at Kmart, or the school ($8)

School notices

Our Matariki Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, June 24th in our school hall at 5.30pm. Parents and caregivers are cordially invited to come and share food from their country of origin, if you wish, otherwise just bring a plate of food.

Good morning on this beautiful summer day.  It is hard to think that there are only three more weeks left of the school year.  Let's make these the three best ones we've had, by being organised, being kind and having a big dollop of patience. 𝅵؜𝅴 Kahikatea is looking forward to our Big Day In on Monday 6 December.  Unfortunately with Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to join us.  Please keep a lookout for a notice which will be sent home this week outlining all the details. Looking back at what was going on this time last year and it was jam packed with lots of activity - preparing for the curtain going up for Peter Pan, Ahurei, student Celebration Day at school, Christmas Parade, students competed in inter-school athletics. Unfortunately many activities have had to be cancelled this year due to COVID and many more will also need to be cancelled. Welcome to Week 9 Term 4

Kia ora whānau,  Congratulations on making it to the final week of what has been a fun and turbulent school year. Thank you all for the time, dedication and effort you have put into your children's learning, particularly during the lockdown period.  We have been doing all sorts of crafts, technology projects, science and physical activities during our morning rotations, which the kids have thoroughly enjoyed. Check out our budding beekeepers below!  We sent school reports home on Friday which included a slip with the name of your child's teacher for 2022. All students will be meeting their new teacher and classmates on Monday.  Coming up this week:  Monday - Duathlon  All children will need to bring their togs, towel, hat and sneakers. Welcome to Week 1 Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4 all parents, caregivers and children.  We hope that children had a refreshing break and you are enjoying the nice Spring weather (on most days). It is going to be a very busy term with a lot of things happening, including the St Mary's RE Review in Week One. We will have special visitors checking out our lovely Catholic School on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Covid-19  As you are no doubt aware NZ is in the midst of a Covid-19 Delta variant outbreak. St Mary's will continue to operate under Level 2 restrictions. We are continuing to ask parents not to enter the school except for essential matters. If you do need to come in you must wear a mask and sign in at the school office (or use the NZ covid tracer app). We will need to continue to use basic hygiene measures such as handwashing, use of sanitiser, cough and sneeze etiquette and regularly cleaning and disinfecting high touch surfaces.
