Welcome to Week 3 Term 3

Kia ora,

It's hard to believe that we are entering into Week three and the start of August. The daffodils have started to bloom, which means longer days and warmer weather to come.

Last Friday, the middle school students were part of the Novena to Our Lady Mary, in preparation for the Feast of the ‘Assumption of Mother Mary into heaven’ on 15th August.  The kids were amazing! they read and sang beautifully. The assembly we hosted afterwards went brilliantly! The students worked so hard and were very excited to perform The Rock Warriors for the school. Thank you to the parents and whānau who were able to come along and watch! If you missed it, check out the link below!
NB: Only those with the link can view the video. It is not public on Youtube.

Thank you for attending the 3 way conferences. The conferences are always a good time for parents to hear what their children have done and hear what the goals are for the next little while. Please if you were unable to attend contact and we will make a time that works.

Things on this week:

Today is the  Feast Day of Mary MacKillop and we will be celebrating this on Friday.

Monday - Parish Mass at 9am with Kakano 7. Please provide a small plate for the students to enjoy during a shared morning tea afterwards. All parents are welcome.

We will be starting our KOS programme throughout the school. This Monday night Viv Sutton is hosting a ‘Keeping Ourselves Safe’ Information meeting:
There is a community hui at St Mary's School on Monday 9 August, 5.15-6pm, in Room 14, where I will explain what the Keeping Ourselves Safe programme entails, and share some tips about keeping your young ones safe. You are encouraged to attend.

Tuesday  - Library

Next Sunday, the parish have a Māori Miha (Māori Mass) at 10.00 am followed by a procession carrying the statue of Mother Mary around the Church and our school. All students from the schools are invited to join the procession with their parents at 11.00 am in front of St Mary’s Church. There is a shared lunch after the procession that everyone is invited to and families are asked to bring a plate to share.

Friendly Reminders:

Please, if you are eating yummy apples and need a chart let Mrs. Dinniss know and she will print you off a form. We receive P.E. gear for the stickers collected.

Chromebooks need to come to school charged. As we are a BYOD school, many of our learning activities now require devices. Headphones are essential, please. If your child's Chromebook is not working, we recommend contacting Paul (see contact details below).
Please LABEL your children's clothing, we have quite a few issues with jerseys/fleeces ending up on the wrong body.
Please check with your child that their headphones are working. We still have some children without, it was on the stationery list for this year and very important to have at school. They can be purchased reasonably priced at Kmart, or the school ($8)

Have an enjoyable week.
