Talofa, welcome to  Tokelaun Language Week!

This year’s theme for Te vaiaho o te Gagana Tokelau - Tokelau Language Week is Tokelau! Tapui tau gagana ma tau aganuku, i te manaola ma te lautupuola, which means Tokelau! Preserve your language and culture, to enhance spiritual and physical wellbeing.

Coming up this week:

Swimming - Kahikatea will be swimming each day this week. 
It is very important that everyone takes part in swimming and note will be needed from home if your child is unable to participate, otherwise they will be given spare togs. Swimming is part of our P.E. curriculum where children can learn valuable swimming skills.

Thursday - Sorrowful Mysteries Liturgy. 

THE MONTH OF THE ROSARY 
This month is the month of the Rosary. Kahikatea is leading the Sorrowful Mysteries on Thursday.

RAFFLES
Thank you for your support with the selling of our PTA’s Raffle Books. The books must be returned tomorrow Tuesday sold or unsold. Thank you.

EARLY FINISH FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR STAFF
On Tuesday 2nd November at 2.30pm, our staff are participating in some Professional Development. We will need to finish school at 2.15pm on that Tuesday, therefore you will need to pick your child up at 2.15pm. If you require after-school care, you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Mary Anne’ s contact number is : 347 0709 or 0211 215599

WORKING BEE. 
We intend to have a working bee on the third Saturday after the holidays, November 7th. There are a number of jobs that need to be done. We really appreciate the support we get from you, so thank you in anticipation. Children are welcome and we will have a BBQ lunch. A letter has been sent a letter home about this. If you are able to help, please indicate on the sheet what you can help with and return the form to school.

ATHLETICS FOR YEAR 3 TO 6s
Our annual Athletics Day will take place on Monday, November 8th. The sports coordinator has offered free fries to the class that has all their parents fill out the form below. Please take 5 min to fill it out.

Kia ora whānau,  Congratulations on making it to the final week of what has been a fun and turbulent school year. Thank you all for the time, dedication and effort you have put into your children's learning, particularly during the lockdown period.  We have been doing all sorts of crafts, technology projects, science and physical activities during our morning rotations, which the kids have thoroughly enjoyed. Welcome to Week 7 Term 4

Good morning on this beautiful summer day.  It is hard to think that there are only three more weeks left of the school year.  Let's make these the three best ones we've had, by being organised, being kind and having a big dollop of patience. 𝅵؜𝅴 Kahikatea is looking forward to our Big Day In on Monday 6 December.  Unfortunately with Covid restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to join us.  Please keep a lookout for a notice which will be sent home this week outlining all the details. Looking back at what was going on this time last year and it was jam packed with lots of activity - preparing for the curtain going up for Peter Pan, Ahurei, student Celebration Day at school, Christmas Parade, students competed in inter-school athletics. Unfortunately many activities have had to be cancelled this year due to COVID and many more will also need to be cancelled. Welcome Ākonga and Whānau

  Hello! My name is Sophie, also known as Miss Bowie. I am very excited to be embarking on a new adventure at St Marys this year, after teaching for 4 years at Kawaha-Point School. My passions include playing netball, exploring new places, spending time with my friends and whānau, eating lots of delicious food, and of course, teaching. I am currently training for a half-marathon, which I will be running with Miss Lovegrove (If I can keep up with her long legs!). Throughout my early teaching years, I have had many “wow moments” with my students, which are memories I will treasure forever. I cannot wait to create more precious memories this year in rooms 14 and 15.  Kia Ora Tatou! I’m Tai, but in the class setting I am known as Mrs YTT, mama, and yes, sometimes nana. Teaching makes me feel like a rock star (which is probably what I want to be when I grow up).
